Timing of funeral (trigger suicide)

I don’t know where else or who else to ask this question. Sorry it’s so sensitive.
An old friend died last week. The funeral will be a long journey for me, but I really want to be there.
I am trying to roughly work out when it might be (obviously not to the day, but within a week or so maybe) so I can put things in place in order for me to go. I don’t want to ask the family, they have enough to deal with.
It seems very likely that she committed suicide. It was not a huge shock to me, sadly. I presume there will be an investigation of some sort, and this will delay the funeral.
Does anyone know how it works?

Very similar situation to a friend of mine recently. Her funeral took place less than two weeks after her suicide and the inquest process has been started but no hearing yet, so I don’t think it usually leads to a lengthy delay unless there’s some doubt over the cause of death.

As Cheeryandmerry said, it can be within two weeks. Things such as the inquest happen afterwards. A post mortem is likely to be completed but that doesn't often take long.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Please be kind to yourself and seek some help/support for yourself.

Sympathies, what a sad situation.

My Dad died suddenly last year, not suicide in his case but there had to be a post-mortem to establish cause of death before we could have a funeral. It took about 3 weeks for the post mortem and to get the certificates and paperwork back from the coroner to allow us to organise the funeral which was about a week later. In the event of suicide there might need to be an inquest but I understand you can hold the funeral in the meantime...

But as others have said I understand it can be much quicker than that so I think would think it would be between 2-4 weeks from now...
