Ds1 (5.9) has been helping his grandad all year with his allotment - has got his own patch and chose to grow pumpkins and cucumbers... ()

We haven't got a garden so it's the only place he gets to grow stuff and he's absolutely loved it - spends hours on the allotment with his grandad.

His pride and joy is one of the pumpkins which has been coming on a treat and plans were already being made for it to have pride of place at Halloween, carved with candle in etc.

Some gits apparently wrecked the allotments at the weekend in the middle of the night - pulled up lots of people's plants, left the water tap on and stole ds1's pumpkin.

Just very, very about it - nearly cried when dp told me. We told ds1 and he's OK about it but it's so pointless and destructive.

rantinghousewife · 30/08/2007 20:47

on your behalf. What lowlifes!!

itwasntme · 30/08/2007 20:47

That's really sad... your poor ds.

Why do some people feel the need to destroy stuff??

Pinkchampagne · 30/08/2007 20:48

That's awful. I feel really sad for your poor DS.

Dottydot · 30/08/2007 20:49

I know - why would you steal a pumpkin?? I'm sooooo rather than at the moment - I hate it when we can't make things right for our children - although realise they have to know the realities of what life's like sometimes, but once the pumpkin started growing we'd get regular updates from him and it was really exciting - something to look forward to.

sigh.

verysweatybetty · 30/08/2007 22:13

if these vandals start to do a regular pop in then cover everything in itching powder if not get a hidden camara or do a steak out and prosicute the bastards, i would!

Jenkeywoo · 30/08/2007 22:16

I'm so sorry, what a horrible thing to happen. My dd is an avid gardener with her own patch so I can relate to how disappointed your ds must be.

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 30/08/2007 22:18

Thats awful. There was a spate of chickens been killed on allotments near us a while back

handlemecarefully · 30/08/2007 22:28

That's another thing entirely Stripeyknicks - killing chickens for kicks? - you wonder what they will graduate to next [sickened emoticon]

Unfortunately that is the way things are nowadays. It is all going downhill so fast it is frightening. Feel really sorry for your ds
