When you wake from a dream 😱😱

Random post, but does anybody ever wake up from a bad dream in the middle of the night and worry that it might come true?

Because right now, I dare not go downstairs, for the fear of being mobbed by 7 youths one with a large space and coming in the house because we left the garage open.

Thing is though, the garage doors are shut, but now my subconscious is actually wondering..... 😥🤔😔

Ah, yes. Particularly the really bad ones that could easily be realistic. I’ll then spend the day not really speaking much and “zoned out”, owing to the fact I’ve managed to traumatise myself with my own brain!

I rarely have unrealistic dreams though, but when I do I can reassure myself rather easily the morning after 😂

That was supposed to say spade!

It was horrible. I dreamt that I went downstairs as I had a feeling the garage door was open, (and we have been in the garage tonight), and as I went I saw some older kids lurking around as if they had just found a gold mine.

They legged it because they were startled, bit I couldn't close the bloody garage door and they went lurking around, realised I was having trouble closing it and took advantage of that.

About 7 of them started coming towards, and I grabbed a long axe ( we don't own an axe) told them to f*off, as I'll call the police, but they were having none of it and started coming towards me, I legged it upstairs, told my mum to stay where she was (mum isn't here, she lives 300 miles away) and then I woke up.

Even though we don't have an axe and mum isn't here, still panicked me like crazy, took me a good 15 minutes to pluck up the courage to and check though 🤦‍♀️

Oh goodness, I think I’d be pretty shaken by that too, even with the slight discrepancies with reality!

Normally if it’s particularly realistic it does take me a while to convince myself it probably won’t really happen, although I can confirm that on occasion this has taken a few days 😂

A few days? Wow. 😁 I generally don't remember my dreams that well, for them to be able to bug me for any period of time, but if I do remember them, the memory of them fade a free a few hours at most.
I feel for you!

I have had the one few where I have been woken up by a very loud knock on (what seems to be) the front door.

I've woken the other half up to tell him, and I look through all the windows to the front of the house and never see anything. He's been and checked for me, but again that's another mind trick.

The subconscious doesn't half play some horrible tricks on you sometimes 😔😔

I have had scary dreams, yes, but the feeling does pass. Not nice while it lasts.

Oh crikey, that’s lucky Grin I’ve always had the issue of being able to recall dreams rather well, which can be a pain when they’re particularly horrifying - but it can come in handy for good or funny dreams though; I still recall a dream I had at the age of four in which my favourite cartoon character was in my house dancing to a song being played on a gramophone, and remember being in hysterics recalling it at the time 😂

Argh, the ones where you wake up after a loud sound, or after you fall off/down something always make me jump. 😳 Falling down the stairs is one I get a lot! I will actually feel the sensation of falling then promptly wake up in a panic.

I had a dream someone was walking towards me once while I was napping on the sofa. Was so real that when I woke up I was too on edge to stay in the house on my own so legged it and went to a cafe until my flat mate was home. It’s weird how much dreams can leave you shaken.
