So I’ve received a letter from the social services” this is how it is written out

Dear [name removed],
I am writing this letter to inform you that we have recived a referral regarding your child.
Unforutnalty we have been unable to contact you via telephone. If I can’t get in contact with you via telephone I will do a visit [name removed] the home address on Thursday 23rd January 2020 at 3pm please let me know if this is not a Convientent time. My contact number is (and then the number)

Your sincerely

[name removed]

The number that is on the letter does actually ring through to a children department kinda thing and it all seems legit! But 1. They haven’t even used my first name and surname just my first and middle. Which I find very strange.

  1. There is a lot off spelling mistakes through out that letter
  2. There isn’t even any reference number on when it says that there should be

I’m only confused to off this a legit letter from the social services or an hoax only because I have dont nothing wrong to harm my child she is safe, and no harm has been bought to her and I’m scared, angry and very upset over this letter

I’ve no idea if this is legitimate but can you ring social services to check? Not the number on the letter, but your local one? If it is, then surely they will have a record of it

They aren’t open till Monday the nearest one to me so I can’t ring anyone yet to find out. My heads completely gone because I know I haven’t done anything to put my child in any danger

I was contacted by ss once. They got my name wrong and the chap who phoned me was unable to articulate what they could do to help. Frightful. The head of ss apologised.

May I suggest that you phone childrens' Services first thing Monday, find out the director of chdrens' services and send them a copy of the letter, special delivery, asking for it to be verified and for a senior member of staff to contact you.

Good luck.

Sadly I wouldn’t think that it’s not genuine because of poor spelling and grammar and things like lack of reference number.

Hi OP, just to let you know we've removed names from your post to protect your privacy.

Call ss Monday morning, use the number you find online through the council for them.

Spelling mistakes and errors unfortunately don't mean it's not real.
