While we're on books and music, any other cinephiles out there? Have just come back from seeing Almodovar's Talk to Her, anyone else seen it?

Agree that Ewan McGregor was gorgeous in Moulin Rouge. I am definitely becoming a sad lechy old housewife, I always seem to come out of the cinema in love with someone. Clive Owen in Gosford Park, there's another one. Very good film too, I agree.
Last week I watched Citizen Kane for the first time. Wanted to see why it's always voted the critics' favourite film of all time. It was very good. I got very into old films when ds was a baby and I could veg on the sofa and watch the C4 or BBC2 afternoon films. Can't do it now with two toddlers but I do often tape them and try to catch up on them. Along with the ads for stair lifts and retirement plans with June Whitfield!

I saw the film some months ago so you will have to give me more than that....

bells2 · 04/09/2002 15:23

Noooooooo - not Clive Owen! He is GORGEOUS. Have you seen him in Croupier?

Well it was 20 years ago......

bettys · 04/09/2002 15:29

Yeah, but that would make him around 19 or 20 and REALLY fit!

bettys · 04/09/2002 15:30

As in 'fitbit', or does no one say that any more?

Fionn · 04/09/2002 16:05

I'm so jealous! I once got propositioned by the sleazy Jimmy White in a Spanish nightclub when he was out for the night with Gary Lineker. If it was Gary I probbaly would have said yes...Hardly compares to sobernow's exploits though.

Thanks SueDonim - I'm glad to hear I didn't imagine the kangaroo in the book. As you say bizarre!
Sounds like Gosforth Park is a good one to see (I'll be watching extra carefully for sobernow's old flame!)

Rhubarb · 04/09/2002 22:06

I once got propositioned by Jude Law!

Fionn · 04/09/2002 23:21

Oh Rhubarb - he's another on my lech list - you didn't turn him down did you?!

Sorry, just kidding! Always a dreamer!

Janus · 05/09/2002 18:27

I used to work for a Theatre and I got propositioned by Des O'Connor!!!!!!!!!!!! He was still about 50 years older than me then!!!!

Chinchilla · 05/09/2002 19:50

Well, I have been kissed by Dale Winton!!! DH had his hand shaken by him and I always say that I bet Dale wished it had been the other way round!

Marina · 05/09/2002 20:40

I was in an amateur panto with Jude Law. I was a Balinese Temple Girl/Woodland Creature/Yokel and he was a Babe in the Wood. He was an absolute horror, even at six...
Sobernow, I am hugely jealous. Clive Owen is so talented and gorgeous.

aloha · 05/09/2002 20:54

A friend of mine got followed down the street by Ewan McGregor who was totally pissed and yelling rude things at her ('come and have sex with me' rude things, not, 'bum, bum, willy' rude things). This was quite a long time ago, but she was jolly shocked.

janh · 05/09/2002 21:03

30 years ago, I had an interesting relationship with a musician who now plays with Elton John - I know this is a film thread but I wondered if I got any points for that...

Marina, how come you were a Balinese Temple Girl/Woodland Creature/Yokel and Jude Law was only a Babe in the Wood? Surely with your talent you should now be the big star, not him???
