The Guardian brought a farmer from Westray (off Orkney!) to London to see how he liked it - here - after he went back he sent this email:

heeheehee.

I read this - thought it was a great article. I just loved the idea of him sitting in the Ivy explaining the ins and outs of cow-breeding. I kind of hope that what he meant was directed at the rich people that he met. Not all rich people are like that...

I loved the article - being a scottish Islander myself (though not Orkney and not into cows lol). Its amazing what it feels like to go from the middle of nowhere to a big city - even Glasgow or Edinburgh. The thing that always gets me is the smell - the traffic fumes. I was in Edinburgh a few weeks ago and went to the botanic gardens on the Sunday with some friends and they were all saying 'ahhhh- fresh air' and I was thinking 'boke - traffic fumes!!'

Mind you I have been to mainland Scotland almost as many times this year as he had done in his life!
