Just seen an advert for Beauty & the Beast on Ice. Has anyone been to one of these? Are they worth the money and how old do you think the children should be?

Hi Lollypop

I used to work for a box office that sold the tickets for these shows. I havn't actually seen one myself, but a friend did and said that it was fantastic.

I would definately not recommend them for under 2's and if your child is a bit nervous then even perhaps up to around 4/5, the characters on the ice seem quite large and some of the costumes can be scary, this was a particular problem the year it was Snow White with the wicked queen.

We used to sell lots of tickets to primary schools and brownie packs so I guess the ideal age would be around 7 or 8.

One piece of advice. Don't buy rinkside seats. They are the most expensive but they are too close to the ice and are flat so you can't see properly, especially with a small child. I don't know which arena you are thinking of going to but the best place it about half way up, facing the stage where the skaters enter the ice.

If you can get the tickets, I thoroughly recommend you go to it. A group of us went with children aged bt. 4-9 and all of us enjoyed it. The 4 yr old did get a bit wriggly half way through but the music, lights and costumes are so wonderful that he did keep going to the end fairly well. I a`gree with JulieF but would go further and say not suitable for under 4 unless they are really alert and used to sitting still for a long time!!
Tip - wear lots of layers so that you can slowly strip off - we started off a little cold and then got wamer and warmer!!

we saw Toy Story last year and the jungle on the year before. Kids were 3 and 6 then and they loved every minutes (really helps if they know the story and songs). and yes they really are worth the money, we got middle tier seats and you get a good view of the whole rink.
