Office rant...

Sorry need to rant...came into the office and the cleaners (again!) haven't done the washing up as they're contracted to do. Have dropped numerous hints and then downright blatent comments about how it's the male section of the offices 'turn' this time. Having waited an hour I've now had to go and do the dishes!. Fed up of the assumption that any females in the office will do the washing up/tea etc!! Need to change my job description to sometime Accountant, part time teasmade, replacement cleaner grrr...thanks, just had to get that off my chest.

if you had posted this on dial a rant I would have been able to charge!

TraceyP · 28/09/2004 10:25

Do your own washing up, make your own tea and let the others get on with it. You are not a cleaner and it is not your job to run around cleaning up after grown men!

bran · 28/09/2004 10:28

teabelly, if you do the washing up now then you'll be doing for as long as you work there. If the mess bothers you then don't go into the kitchen.

PicadillyCircus · 28/09/2004 10:30

I think the cleaners in my office (when I'm being an accountant ) didn't clean one day last week. You're not in Hertfordshire are you?

MeanBean · 28/09/2004 10:31

God teabelly are you mad? Wash one cup for you, and stick to using that. You are not the cleaner. Are you the office manager? Or the person responsible for the cleaning contractors? Because it is up to that person to ensure that the cleaners are doing their job.

woodpops · 28/09/2004 10:32

Keep your own cup on your desk and wash your own cup as and when. That's what I do. In my office most of the cups should come with a public health warning. They are truely disgusting!!!!

teabelly · 28/09/2004 10:53

Gosh I go to the loo and when I come back there's loads of replies...I only wanted to rant on here about the lazy bloody men in my office cos I can't scream it out in the office! . Have a board meeting today so couldn't leave the office in a state - but would only have done my own cup otherwise!

Teabelly, maybe screaming it out in the office would have the desired effect? Mind you, they'd probably blame your hormones ...

teabelly · 28/09/2004 11:14

Traceyp...you're not wrong there!

Been there, done that, made the tea ...

californiagirl · 29/09/2004 03:41

Been there, learned to behave just like the men. Goodness, was there a mess? Didn't notice. If you did, how come you didn't clean it up?

slug · 29/09/2004 09:58

Now now teabelly, calm down. Wait for a quiet moment then transport all dirty cups, some fairy liquid and a wash cloth (preferably damp and manky) to the desk of worst male offender. Arrange said items all over his desk and chair in a manner which makes it impossible for him to work without first removing offending items. As he is transporting said items back to kitchen remark "Make us a cuppa while you're out there love".

Continue process with all other males int he office until they GET THE HINT. (which, admittedly, being men, will probably be about the same time they set up ice skating rinks in hell)

SoupDragon · 29/09/2004 10:19

Snigger

teabelly · 29/09/2004 12:16

Slug just the thought of your idea has cheered me up! Cleaner did the dishes last night, hurrah...so the lazy gits in my office have got away with it for another week (I only do mon to wed)...but I'm gonna keep your advice in mind for next time...
