Asda online

hate the shop, hate the adverts, but it keeps being voted cheapest food store, i have no money and i am going to give it a shot. Any reccomendations?

not used there sire recently (use tescos) but found that i now save a small fortuen by shopping on line,

The only down side to asda that i found was the booking a delivery slot, had to put one thing in basket and book delivery slot for following week then remeber to do shopping night before. whereas tesco have slots available for next day generally. but then like i said first not shopped with them for a while

never been in one myself as ther isn't one near here but i'm curious to know if it's any good. the website is v poor imo but maybe the shop itself is better.

are you hoping the gorgeous guy from the gym is shopping there?

The service can't be any worse than what we get with Tescos here. Sainsbury are so expensive,Asda don't deliver in my area!
Have no personal experience but Iceland are meant to be very good. I am sure there will be stories to prove otherwise though!

I use asda quite a bit, ff. It's a pain getting a delivery slot and they no longer do free deliveries. However the food is very cheap and if you shop carefully using their smartprice range you can eat very cheaply. If it's within walking distance go in and check out the special offers.

I can do smartprice spaghetti with smartprice passata made into a sauce with onions and or other veg and seasonings and I can feed a family of 5 for well under a pound.

well I felt much the same as you ff so I went to visit our nearest large one (in Roehampton, v big Asda).

I found all the 'normal' foodstuff that you would get in a shop (i.e. carrots, potatoes) cheaper. The meat was fine, nothing special, but definitely OK. However, their range of food was definitely not as good as say a Sainsburys (where we normally shop) or a Tescos. However, I thought the kids clothes were brilliant and their whole halloween range was amazing. I won't change my food shopping to Asda because I couldn't get everything we wanted but I will definitely visit them again for their clothes and accessories.

Our Asda doesn't deliver but we shop there quite a lot. Asda organic is lots cheaper than Sainsbury's organic, although there's less choice - only one type of apple for example. I mainly buy veg and fruit and meat (all organic) and it's fine. Their vanilla shower gel is good too and Copella apple juice is 1.68, compared to 1.99 (I think) in Sainsbury's. I buy some of ds's clothes there too, he goes through trousers like nobody's business but I don't mind if they only cost 4 quid!

I used to use it in Cambridge and it was brilliant - then they stopped for no obvious reason other than they claimed it wasn't popular enough(?!)

We shop in Asda every week as it's right across the street from our house. Ours doesn't do an online delivery service and even if it did we wouldn't be able to use it as we live too close. Shame really as it would be nice to do a really big shop and get it delivered rather than carry it all home, don't have a car.

I shop in asda more and more. The food is ok though I know Sainsburys do have a better selection and I still go there sometimes, but Asda wins for me because is fantastic for cheap toiletries, medicines, cleaning stuff and children's clothing. ie Contact lens fluid -( £4.50 approx so almost half the price of anywhere else). I can save a small fortune compared to going to Boots, if I buy asda deodorant, toothbrushes, paracetomol, children's cough syrup, toothpaste, washing up liquid, etc etc.

And as someone else said, the clothes are lovely.

I switched to doing most of my shopping at Asda since ds was born as I find it really good value. Like everyone else has said the depth and breadth of range is maybe not as great as the other supermarkets of a similar size but I have rarely not been able to find something that was on my list. The organic meat is much cheaper than anywhere else as is the organic fruit and veg. They often seem to have replenishment issues though. Great non-food ranges. Some things are very cheap. Eg, ice-cube trays for 32p, own label tupperware stuff with lids that work. I'm a really big fan.

I've not tried the online ordering but a friend has tried all of the supermarkets and she opts for Asda as she says they are the only one that will guarantee the shopping will be taken to where you want it to go. So if you live in a flat, as she does, it will be hauled upstairs and placed in your kitchen. Apparently Asda have a facility where you punch a code from your last receipt into the website and these items can become your favourites. Friend does this and says it works really well.
