I viewed a lovely house yesterday it was perfect for me and my 4 month old, and the landlord has accepted me to rent the house and at the moment, the tenancy is in mine and my partners name. We have both had a form to fill out today. And there is question asking if either of us have ever had a County Court Judgment against us.
I haven't, and my partner, as far as he knew until now, didn't either. He's just gone onto clear score and seen he has infact got one against him, only recent. It's a debt of just over £500 on a credit card. He's figured it out and realised it's from his ex partner. She's caused a lot of crap for us recently, as well as stopping him from seeing his 2 kids for the past year, she's accused him of all sorts (he was arrested but nothing was ever done because she'd lied) and now she's caused this drama.
As much as I love him, and we do want to be a family with my little girl, we're both thinking about just asking if his name can be taken off the tenancy and il just do it alone and only my name will be on the tenancy agreement. Because at the end of the day, this home is the home I want my daughter to grow up in, and that I'll be happy in. I don't think I should let his past and his ex stop me and my daughter from being happy in a home, which he completely understands. I've just paid a holding Deposit to the estate agents today as well.
Is there any chance at all that I Can ring up the estate agents, explain the situation to them, and ask for my partners name to be taken off the tenancy? We haven't signed any contract or got the keys yet, so I'm just wondering if that is possible, given that no contract has been signed yet? This is my 1st time moving into my own place, I've never had to do this before so I'm so confused on what I should do.
