I am thinking of doing a Welsh evening course, as I really love the language (and really regret not doing it as a GCSE).

My council are running the courses (not really want to say which council though lol).

I would love to become fluent in Welsh, but I know it is going to take a long time.

My ds is also learning welsh in pre-school, and hearing him talk in Welsh really makes me want to do it.

Thing is....just how hard is it going to be?

Thanks

jofeb04, there is (or used to be) a Welsh television programme - sort of language makeover show - in which people learnt Welsh for their job. Maybe there's a nurse or midwife programme in that series that might help you? Can't remember what it was called, but I'm sure someone on here must know.

I would have thought that if you are actually in Wales and getting daily practice talking to your son it wouldn't be impossibly difficult .

yes let's learn together! I am far from being a linguist pixie but I'll give it a go.

I started learning Welsh formally last year in a once a week evening class taught at ds's school - and have really enjoyed it - we have focussed mainly on spoken language in class, but as I am a language teacher (teach French - and the sentence structure is very different!), I am passionate about grammar anyway, so have delved into that on my own. I'll be doing the second year at ds's school, and will hopefully do the WJEC entry level certificate next year.

I'm fortunate as dh and ds speak Welsh at home, so, not only do I have somebody to practise on, I also get to hear it every day as part of normal life.

It's not too hard - you just need to get over the "prat factor" ...

pob lwc!
