I have never been to a Christmas market and fancy trying one this year. It would be me and my 29 year old DD.

Those if you who have been which would you recommend?

My preference would be to go on Eurostar but happy to fly.

Thank you

Vienna! so many different markets all with different stuff. rathaus is the mai tourist attraction with the most 'tat' but we go every year to at least 5.

Do you just book direct or do you do a package?

Munich.

Cologne is nice too. There are several markets there.
We bought a 4 night break from Groupon (flight plus hotel) and had a nice 3* hotel a short walk from the city centre. I can't remember how much we paid, but we thought it was very reasonable.

Munich is lovely. Berlin is great too with loads of different markets.
Brussels/Bruge lovely.
Love Copenhagen (Tivoli) - gorgeous city

I like the idea of Brussels as it's on Eurostar.

They all look lovely

I’ve been to a few, liked Düsseldorf best. Its markets are all in walking distance of each other.
This year doing Brussels and Lille, just like you OP have chosen them as can hop on the Eurostar.

I love Christmas markets, I had always wanted to go to a proper traditional European one for my birthday (Xmas baby) so for my 30th I booked for me and my husband to go to bruge. Bruge was amazing and beautiful well worth the visit, however I found the market itself exactly like the one I have in my small home city, same wooden chalets selling pretty much the exact same things was quite disappointed 😥

Prague is supposed to be amazing but I haven't been myself. It's on the to do list!

Paris was my favorite, with Brussels second.
Prague wasn't great.
