Anyone had a loft conversion done?

And do you mind me asking how much it cost?

Am trying to get an idea of what it might cost us, bearing in mind we live in London, so it will probably cost extra.

Haven't rung any companies yet, wanted some figures in my head before I did.

Cost depends on how much structural change you need to make and how much in the way of extras you need. We had ours done with a dormer window built on, three skylight windows, and a shower room as well as the main loft room, so that meant extra plumbing and pipes. Total cost about £25K plus decorating, carpet and the bathroom suite.
If you only put in skylight windows, no dormer, and don't want a bathroom or any complicated layout (our staircase was fairly straightforward, for example, but in some houses, other walls need to be knocked down to make room for the staircase up to the loft room), you could halve that at least.
