Help please with cupcakes!

I can't find a baking thread so posting here. I'm making 25 cup cakes for selling to raise funds for an extremely poorly little boy called Oscar. I've just realised i haven't got muffin tins, just baking trays! Can i just place the paper cases on the trays and fill with the mixture then bake, or will they all spill over the sides?

They will probably spill out I'm afraid, but an easy fix is making little tin foil rings to sit them in. Then double up the paper cups on each and they'll be fine

Put the mixture in using piping bags so you can get it as flat and even as possible, don't overfill and they should be fine! Make sure to space them out or they will squish each other

Alternative - much easier too, just make a tray bake and then section it up

Interesting question. I've done this using a new recipe for cupcakes. They spilled and flattened like pancakes. When I was a wee'un tho and used to make fairy cakes (in the 70s) the mixture was denser and drier and it was possible to use the paper pans. Plus, they were smaller then. and nicer

Oh you're all ace! Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly. I haven't got an piping bag and my icing machine thing has a part missing so these cup cakes are going to be haphazard but the thought is what matters isn't it, esp for the cause.

Well I'm taking the risk and just doubling up on the cases and i'm going to fill them with less mixture and make it a little denser as suggested so thanks for this. Can you tell i'm a rubbish baker?!

Update..i managed to borrow some trays from a neighbour! Here's the result...lookin good so far

Ah thanks v much! . Just glad i managed to borrow some cup cake trays. I'm not piping mountains of butter icing on them but will just use glace icing with raspberries on top
