Mmmmm....Id like to know that too! and trip-trap.

there are some very nasty 'name-calling' on these threads, out of order tbh. Cant understand why people resort to name calling when they dont agree with something someone else has said.

Does my 'ed in!

lulumama · 08/08/2007 19:46

slinks off shamefacedly..>>

verysweatybetty · 08/08/2007 19:47

lulumama · 08/08/2007 19:48

trip trap

reference to the story about the troll under the bridge

'who;s that trip trapping over my bridge'

or something

Wolfgirl · 08/08/2007 19:48

trip trap indicates troll - from the story 'the 3 billy goats gruff'.

troll is a person who joins just to start a provocative thread - some trolls invent a mumsnet persona and have been found out months later

verysweatybetty · 08/08/2007 19:51

right isnt it easier to call them a nasty piece of work or swear at them lol

Wolfgirl · 08/08/2007 19:51

Im guessing - trip - trap is where someone has started a controversial thread, it gets jumped on and Op is slated, hung drawn an quartered via the ether. In addition, it might be that the subject has been roasted alive before, the Op been roasted alive before and someone has innocently started up that very forbidden subject, which by now is historical and cyclical and hence here we have trip-trap

eh? what-ja fink? good guess? poor attempt?

lulumama · 08/08/2007 19:51

trolling is not exclusive to mumsnet, tis all over the interweb

anyhoo, some trolls post and disappear, some carry on for weeks and weeks

sometimes they are funny, sometimes distressing
