Thanks in advance

Due to renew ins for Sunday. Been shopping around found a good deal. Tried to pay and didn't go through. Called new insurer. Upped by a few hundred quid appears my present insurer has decided I have a claim.

I do not someone scratched my car in a car park a while back I called my insurer for advice and as was so small I was not making a claim they have registered a claim there was no claim!! Was assured this would not affect anything.

No one to speak to at ins co till Mon.

Do I go to new insurer and get ins at high price until the original insurer resolves the issue.

Do I renew with original insurer and hope they reduce / refund.

Need to resolve soonest thanks.

You haven't had a claim but you have had an accident. Did you declare that too the new insurer when you asked for the original quote? They usually ask whether you have had an accident in the last 3-5 years, whether you claimed or not is irrelevant.

Thanks Brokenwing. So when I returned to my car in a car park and noticed a scratch that is classed an accident?

I have loads of small scratches of my car from the supermarket carpark but have never felt the need the phone the insurance company to discuss them. Sounds like, as you felt the scratch was significant enough to call them to say someone has damaged your car and discuss potentially using your insurance, they have noted it down as an accident, which it is, albeit very minor. Not sure if they will let you backtrack now and claim it wasn't an accident.

Brokenwing yes it was a big scratch. Will see what they say. Lesson learned too honest
