I’m thinking of ordering something from the US. Its value is below the level for customs duty, but I would have to pay VAT on it. I’m wondering whether there would also be a handling fee. In the past I ordered something from the US (worth only about £20), and at that point there was a customs duty to pay and also a handling fee of £8. As there would not be any customs duty for the item I’m now thinking of ordering, I wonder whether there would not be a handling fee, or whether there would be one because of the VAT?
