Feeding the 5000 (50-60 people..) but literally no idea what to buy and how much of each??

We’re buying sandwich platters that serve 6-8 people- do we buy about 6/7 of these?

The rest we were going to make, any ideas for a simple buffet? Just no idea on quantities and don’t want loads of food left over. There’s also some vegetarians coming, what buffet food should we get for them? It has to be cold food as nowhere to cook at the venue.

Also, do you just do savoury food or some sweet? TIA!!! SmileSmile

We made sandwiches, about 3 loaves of bread. 3 pizzas, sausages, pakoras, cold meat, a big bowl of lettuce, a bowl of chopped up tomatos, and one of cucumber, pasta salad, potato salad some crisps and dip. Sweet was the cake.

We cooked at home and transported. I picked up some Spanish tortillas, olives, and dips too.

I'd do

Sandwiches
Sausage rolls
Cocktail sausages
A few big quiches
Big potato salad
Crudites and dips
Bowls of crisps
Vegetable samosas
Cold chicken drumsticks
Cheese and charcuterie board

Maybe a tray of cakes for afterwards

Make a lot..people eat a lot at buffets

You could get some large vegetarian quiches and cut them up? And perhaps some cheese and onion ‘sausage’ rolls? I’d probably allow four pieces of sandwich per person, as some will have more and some will have less. If it were me, I’d mostly do savoury but maybe include some easy sweet things like a fruit platter (if you can buy in advance) and some cupcakes?

We have about 15 children coming, would you do a small children’s buffet? (Small finger sandwiches, cupcakes etc)

Do plenty of veggie sandwiches as meat eaters and veggies alike love egg mayo, and cheese butties and it's easy for the veggies to go without. Same with quiche etc.

HeadfirstForHalos · 26/08/2019 20:56

For kids, small sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, "kiddie" type crisps and biscuits like pom bears, wotsits, party rings etc.If any veggie kids you can get quorn cocktail sausages.
