I keep getting emails from people about these, so I signed up for facebook and I just don't get it! What's the point????? And now another load of people have told me they apparently use myspace.... do any respectable adults, I thought it was more a teenage thing??? I have no idea about these

My partner, whos 29, loves facebook - hes on it every day locating people he lost touch with years ago and made me sign up, but I hardly ever go on it (3 times in 5 months or so)

A lot of my work colleagues use myspace and bebo and they are aged 19 - 30.

I couldnt be bothered with them

aDad · 05/08/2007 19:55

have resisted facebook. I'm sure I dont need it in my life!

Same with myspace. A few of my friends are involved with music and I can see the use of it for them, and I use it to keep up with what they are doing but wont be joining up myself.

moondog · 05/08/2007 19:57

Yeah,what is it all about.
I'm getting e mails from people saying they have me down as a 'friend' and graciously inviting me to make contact.

Eh indeed

Why would i want to read about their lives???

allgonebellyup · 05/08/2007 20:00

oh well i am on both myspace and facebook, i have to say i prefer the latter, you only have real friends on there as opposed to any tom, dick or harry wanting to be yer mate like on myspace.

WanderingTrolley · 05/08/2007 20:00

For the most part, if I'm no longer in touch with someone, there's a reason.

I have never been invited be someone's MySpace or Facebook friend.

Should I be delighted and smug, or dejected and sad?

moondog · 05/08/2007 20:19

Quite WT.

I haven't contacted you for years because I don't want to be your friend so feck off and find some other dullard to play with.

BigmummaL · 06/08/2007 14:01

Am a big Myspace user, but I write a great deal of poetry and post my work on there and also get to chat to lots of other poets.

Have Facebook too, but don't really like it.

I am 27!

Tigana · 06/08/2007 14:06

DH uses myspace a lot for his work, but that is music industry based and most bands etc have myspace sites so you can research and network easily. He is 30 this year.

I have an myspace 'account', set it up in order to make contact with a friend. Have had 3 or 4 total and utter strangers contact me to be my friend since...clearly trying to sell me sopmething ultiamtely as my site is completely dull and un-populated with info so must be a mass "add" .

Woudl rather MN.

MrsBadger · 06/08/2007 14:09

I just use facebook as a handy way to send photos to my friends and my sister - haven;t seen any other features I am especially eager to use tbh.
Have had to acquire a seperate account for MN Only Use though, as it would never do for MNers to discover my non-MN life, especially as it migth reveal I am Not Actually A Badger.

fuzzywuzzy · 06/08/2007 14:15

I use facebook, it's very useful to find out what our old students are doing, especially when they claim they cannot pay their fees as they are incredibly poor and living in boxes. Whilst it transpires on facebook that they're actually travelling the globe!!!!

Tigana · 06/08/2007 14:19

fuzzywuzzy - see I think people 'forget' facebook and myspace are public forums. A friend of ours made some excuse for not coming out ( something along lines of "gee I am such an important person at work that I have to work until 2am instead of 5pm").
I was pootling about on myspace and spotted him 'chatting' with another friend saying that he and girlf were off to watch Derren Brown that night (FFS!!).

tribpot · 06/08/2007 14:22

I signed up to Facebook with great reluctance and now keep getting bombarded with requests to become a pirate (eh?) or a zombie (double eh?) to tickle people, to nominate virtual strangers (well, the mother of my dh's only niece) to be a Top Friend etc. Stop the madness!

MoosMa · 06/08/2007 14:23

I use facebook (I'm 26) and it's been great to see what all my old aquaintences from school are doing, but apart from that it's a bit pointless IMO.

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 06/08/2007 14:24

i use myspace for organ transplant stuff. its easier to keep up with all the people needing different organs in one palce than each individual site for heart, lungs, kidneys, liver etc.

facebook i am trying to work out still
