JoMa · 02/08/2007 19:52

do you have any friends that work in a shop and could do it for you?

foxinsocks · 02/08/2007 19:52

tis the only way

if you force it open, sometimes they are filled with dye (which goes all over the clothes) to stop shoplifters

you've done nothing wrong - you paid for them

foxinsocks · 02/08/2007 19:53

I've had to do this at Sainsburys. No-one batted an eyelid.

NadineBaggott · 02/08/2007 19:54

you don't need a receipt at Tesco, it'll be their own label and they're very good.

aquababe · 02/08/2007 19:54

its a grey looking thing don't think it's filled with dye but I guess I could damage it if forced,

I once bought a skirt fron Next for my dd which she wore for a party. At the party people were looking at me funny like. I wondered what it was.

When I took skirt off at night I noticed the tag was still on!! everyone must have thought I pinched it!! I took it back and they took it off

some tips here whacking with a hammer features

I had this, came off easily with some pliers. Mine was rectangular and grey and didn't have dye in it.

Katy44 · 02/08/2007 20:20

Was tesco as well, they obviously make a habit of it

HumphreysCorner · 02/08/2007 20:25

I took some sleepsuits back to exchange at Tescos that someone had bought me without a receipt. Put them in my pram basket but not in a bag, asked at customer services and they said I would have to change them at the desk in the clothing department. So I went in and picked up a larger size and handed both packs over and they just took the smaller size back and put the larger size in a bag for me. Only later did I think how suspicious it might have looked. They are good in there.

On the other hand, DH removed a dye filled security tag from House of Fraser once-what a rave. Just take the item back.

I have some knickers with a magnetic tag in the crotch. They came with a set I bought from Ann Summers some time ago. Can you not use a magnet then? That's my plan out of the window then.

This happened to my mum before and someone suggested she burnt the lumpy bit with a lighter and a spring appeared then get a paid of scissors to pull the spring out - voila!

While we're on the subject - anyone have any tips on how to disable the alarm system at the Bank of England?

edam · 02/08/2007 23:31

We-ell, since you ask...

Katy44 · 03/08/2007 08:54

Seriously, pliers will be fine, doesn't even take that much effort!
(That's to the security tag BTW, Bank of England - have you tried some vaseline and warm water?)
