Kinckers, tights and vests......

DD was born in May and is quite a warm little creature so this issue has only arisen with this current cold spell. But I'm never sure which order to put them in. Should the vest fasten over or under the tights? What if she has a dress which comes which matching knickers - should these go over/under the vest/tights? What do you do?

we alsway put the vests under tights and have never bothered with the pants over tights as dd seemed a little to warm with all the layers

poppyseed · 16/09/2004 22:15

Vest then tights in our house. Matching knickers were for decoration and so I put them on over the nappy and she wore socks!! I personally wouldn't bother with them if she's wearing tights!! hth?

stupidgirl · 16/09/2004 22:20

I always fastened the vests over the tights, as it helps stop the tights falling down. Agree thst I wouldn't use matching knickers with tights.

Tommy · 16/09/2004 22:25

God, I'm so glad I have boys.....

eidsvold · 17/09/2004 03:10

vest over tights and forget about the pants unless she is wearing socks instead of tights....

nightowl · 17/09/2004 03:21

Vest over tights then another pair of tights over vest then a pair of trousers...lol
only way they stay warm enough in winter, I find.

Hulababy · 17/09/2004 09:29

I always fastened the vest over the tights, as it looked neater and helped keep tights up (especially if not brand new). I just used pants over the top ioof everything, as decoration, if going out wsomewhere nice.

suedonim · 17/09/2004 17:18

My boys wore tights, Tommy! We didn't have central heating so I used to dress them in tights under their trousers in winter. The tights were in really cute colours with cable patterns on them. My sons looked charming, even if I say so myself but being in their 20's now, they prefer not to be reminded about it.

lou33 · 17/09/2004 17:23

Put my boys in tights as well.

Tommy · 17/09/2004 17:52

I can't imagine what DH would say.....
Also, trying to potty train DS1 - God knows how he'd manage with tights as well as big boy pants....

mears · 17/09/2004 18:16

My boys wore tights under their trourser in the winter 'cause they pulled their socks off. DD had tights over vest then fancy lacy pants I am afraid. What do you expect after 3 boys though

libb · 17/09/2004 18:45

I have just suggested tights to DP (for DS I hasten to add!) and he didn't bat an eyelid - have a feeling that the Ryder Cup is going to be trouble . . .

Bozza · 17/09/2004 21:39

Thanks everyone.

....also - I've been bought some knickers for DD (separate to any dresses) with frills on them - are these supposed to go at the front or the back? I know I#m being a bit thick but on my knickers the decoration is on the front (well it used to be before I started wearing Asda white 5-packs to match my nursing bras ) but I'm sure I've recently seen a crawling baby with a frilly backside in the air.

Hulababy · 17/09/2004 21:40

Frills at the back. The idea is that the frills show as decoration when baby is crawling (bum in the air, so to speak).

pixiefish · 17/09/2004 21:44

frill at the back

Jennisaurus · 17/09/2004 22:25

We just put the vest on then tights and leave out the frilly knickers because it just gets too bulky othereise. Although I have just read the other posts and maybe vest over tights is the way to go. DD was born in November last year so I didn't matter if her tights fell down a bit before!

Make sure you take the tights off when you get in the house because they can get a bit sticky.

Jenniiiiii

80sMum · 17/09/2004 23:50

Ha Ha, thanks for the entertainment everyone! Looks like Batman had it right then - pants over tights rules!

libb · 17/09/2004 23:53

DH says that builders wear tights under their jeans in winter to keep warm.
