that's a really broad question! What else are you looking for?

slapheadsrock · 25/07/2007 20:59

We have camped in France for the last seven years, took youngest DD when she was 12 weeks - in a tent!!

We love Argeles Plage, just near Perpignan. Vendee is just too windy to go on the beach and we thought it was a bit Clacton -ish!

Brittany - Carnac is lovely and not too far. The beaches are quite safe and gently shelving. Frejus is also lovely. Right near Antibes so you can take her to see Orcas and Dolphins.

Just back from Italy. Hmmmm.... prefer France. Went to Tuscany, and the sea was so rough, we only made it into the sea a few times. Might have just been the storms from here ggoing out over the sea and hitting the beach as rough waves, but I'm not convinced.....

Canvas and Eurocamp are quite civilised for tents and caravans. Don't know what you were thinking of by way of self -catering.....

Thanks Slapheadsrock,I am a bit scared about the thought of camping...........don't know why really but I know lots of people that do and really love it. Thanks for the places you have mentioned in France I will look them up.
Lilolilmanchester, I am looking for an apartment/villa, preferably with a pool and near the sea. Somewhere quiet and relaxing but within driving distance to little towns to eat out in the day.

We've booked loads of self catering hols in france through cheznous.co.uk. You book direct with the owner so get a good price.

Are you driving or flying?

madame · 26/07/2007 19:58

Hi Choufleur

Thats really strange as I was looking at that exact website before I came onto here.

We can do either fly or drive. I don't know France very well. Where have you been and liked? I like quite quiet places but within driving distance to beaches and small towns. I was looking at places in Brittany but I don't know whether it's nice there or not really.

In Carnac, there is an ice-cream parlour called Igloo. They have over 100 flavours, but the best bit is that if you order profiterole ice cream, you get a profiterole and chocolate sauce on top! Barbapapa - candy floss - is bright pink and guaranteed to ruin all clothes, but comes with a blob of candyfloss on top. Neat!
Took us two weeks to figure out that 'English soup' flavour was trifle. Couldn't bring ourselves to try leek and potato ice cream though.

Hi madame. I've been to Brittany a few times and always really enjoyed it. If you dont want to drive too far in France Mont St Michel is nice and the ferry goes into St Malo (which is really close) from Portsmouth or Poole i think. If you want to drive a bit further i spent a bit of time living in the Loire. Absolutely wonderful beach at La Baule.
