Could there be a blockage further down? You could try getting some Mr Muscle foaming sink cleaner, but if it's really bad you can buy an attachment to go on a drill, like a long squiggly bit of metal that bends and you shove it down the sink, turn on the drill and it whizzes round and unblocks.

Also have you tried taking off the ubend thing underneath and cleaning that out? If you have been chucking bleach down it be v v careful though and put a bucket underneath

Ours is the same froot, isn't it horrible.

I put some Mr Muscle sink unblocker down ours even though it wasn'rt blocked, and it did seem to get rid of the smell for a while but then it came back.

Now i've got some sink freshner stuff from Wikos. It smells a bit like tcp but at least it's better than it was.

It's like granuels i think and you just put a capful down when needed.

Have you tried washing soda?Put a few handfulls down the sink, followed by a couple of pints of boiling water. It disolves grease & neutralises smells. Its very cheap too, about 58p a pack.

Don't mix too many cleaners together though ! You could get a nasty chemical reaction & fumes !

Easy · 15/09/2004 20:27

I would try squoozing some thick toilet cleaner down it last thing at night, so it gets several hours to trickle down and do it's work.

if that makes no difference ask your neighbours if they have the same problem. If yes ring the water board and ask them about it.

hmb · 15/09/2004 20:27

Have you tried pouring boiling hot water into it? It may be that you have congeled fat in the tube and that can wiff a bit. Follow up with the bleach and then more hot water.

If that doesn't work, rinse it very very well and then try some soda crystals, but don't get them on your hand. Dont mix it with the bleach!
