cleaning tip needed please

Does anyone know how I could remove a mug ring stain (water) from our 1950s cabinet? Our house guest (my brother) has just caused it. I don't know what sort of wood it is, but it's not shiny. Many thanks!

OK, I've checked the site but the tip was Canadian - what's "denatured alcohol"? White spirit?

Fionn, it's meths, just looked it up on google and found the definition on a government site about VAT. How to clean anything is one of dp's web finds and so is saved in our favourites (useful when I spilt half a bottle of bright nail varnish on the bathroom carpet!). We are SAD!! The dictionary of sexual slang, I did a search on google for dictionaries and colloquialisms (prob spelt that wrong). The woman had to be told, even if it was a wind up!
