Fire Engine Party. I am thinking of hiring a fire engine for ds2 birthday, he will be 5. He loves fire engines and just thought it would be different from the usual soft play.

i would only invite a handful of children, I can get two engines so they can all have an hour on the engine. Then into the house for tea and party games.

Has anyone ever done one?

No but that sounds cool to even an adult like me!

Will there be firemen?

Hmm, when I was in the US I lived with a family for a couple of months and they had a Fire Engine party for their three year old - it went down incredibly well! We had a fire engine cake and matching paper plates and cloth (but that's the states for you, you can buy anything over there!!). Don't remember if we did party games or not but he was perhaps a little young for them.

Instead of a party bag you could give each child a toy fireman's helmet

And see if you can set aside somewhere for them to use the hose too

And warn your neighbours because they will all want a go at sounding the siren

yes, I was planning on getting the helmets etc...They even provide a fire engine cake, certificates the lot. So, I think i will go ahead of book it. Yes, there will be fireman, but, as his grandad was a fireman for years he will probably be stood there like a jobsworth

Oh, they will do the hose, we live on a green to plenty of trees to aim at. If dh hasnt been behaving himself we could always put him in the firing line. In fact, one of the party games could be ducking daddys. Daddys have to run between two trees whilst children try and squirt them.
