after school activities...

just wondering if your children do many ....like once/twice a week or do they play more than do activities?

ds has football training on a tuesday and judo on thursday.

dd does riding (not part of school) on a Saturday. Used to do science club on thurs pm, dance on fri pm. Keyboard on thurs afternoon

with these activities during the week (like my ds now has computer club and youth club...he wont do cubs,athletics etc) do you free your w/e so it's not constant trips for the children's activities?

DS has cubs, kickboxing,swimming and tutoring outside of school. He does piano in school.

dd (5) has gymnastics once a week. That seems like enough for her right now.

DS1 does Scouts on Tuesdays, football Thursdays, swimming Fridays (and every other Tuesday with the school - only started this in Y6), karate Saturdays. He has oboe lessons in school too. DS2 does Cubs on Tuesdays, cricket Thursdays, swimming Fridays, karate Saturdays and rugby Sundays. He is also learning the clarinet in school. DS3 does piano Mondays, Beavers Thursdays, swimming Fridays, karate Saturdays and occasionally tries to play rugby on Sundays.

I am permanently knackered.

Mine don't do anything at the mo, cos i would strugglew to get them there. Dd1 and 2 both want to do gymnastics but it is at 4pm and I would have to take Ds along too, so i think thats a no no for now at least.

Dd1 does ballet on a saturday morning.

Mine don't do anything straight after school, as they are too exhausted and need some chill-out time. (They're 5 and 7). They both have swimming lessons at the weekends; ds1 has Beavers after tea on a Tuesday; and he has just started a fortnightly Saturday morning club.

He's just getting to the age where there are lots of possibilities through school and church, but at the moment we're turning them down because he still needs a lot of sleep, and after homework wants to spend his free time just playing or reading.

it's my flippin mum isn't it....how's he getting on with cricket?, you need to encourage them in their interests...I do it's just that my ds wont do stuff he doesn't want to....do you guys ask your children if they want to do these activities, or do you just book them in and see how it goes....and she's always going on about tennis (he's a boy....surely riding his bike a lot, playing with his friends (there are 4 at a time sometimes at ours), doing youth club, school, computer club and occasional swimming, gym, walks at w/e's , not every w/e, when I can be bothered is enough....why do our mothers make us feel like we're not doing enough! rant over....just wanted to make sure that other people's children also refuse to do things like cubs and just play in the week??

Dd1 (she's 7) has ballet on Monday, Gymnastics on Thursday and Rainbows on Friday. But after the October holidays she moves up to brownies which starts 15 minutes after Gymnastics finishes, luckily the two places are practically right next door to each other.
