I have to organise our next team meeting at work. There is always an energiser section ie non work related, slightly physical, slightly amusing. Any ideas?

Am clearly a mum as was seriously considering Musical chairs.

What's that one where you have a famous person's name on a post-it note on your forehead, and have to guess who you are? or something like that?

I've got one:

Each person has a movement associated with themselves, it's a remembering people's names exercise, this

So I start and say "I am WWW and this is my movement"
the next person says, "that was www and this is her movement, I am Flum and this is my movement" and so on, so you go around the room and the poor sod at the end has to remember all of them so careful where you sit.

We did this in a training course and I really did remember everyone's name because of associating them with a particular visual image/movement.

Any good? It makes people laugh too and you can help people who forget, it doesn't have to be deadly serious.

Flum · 17/07/2007 12:21

WideWebWitch · 17/07/2007 12:23

Or something we had at an off site recently, was funny and got everyone talking. Each person has to pair up with someone of a similar height. Then you hold right hands as if you're going to arm wrestle. When the leader says GO then you have to try to touch the other person's right shoulder and they have to stop you, all with your right hands, which are still clasped together. Then the leader asks "how many did you each get?" - in our case most people got one except the couple who co operated and let each other do 20 touches of each others shoulders each.

(I think the message was you can have win/win when you practice teamwork, rather than competing with each other as individuals to personally win. such is the corporate world! Still, it pays our bills!)

coddy · 17/07/2007 12:24

oh another good one

WideWebWitch · 17/07/2007 12:24

Mine all accountants/finance people too Flum. Want any more?

WideWebWitch · 17/07/2007 12:25

That second one is high energy and made everyone laugh a LOT.

amidaiwish · 17/07/2007 12:42

go outside
find a marker, eg a tree
everyone has to fling their right shoe, with their foot, the winner is the one who gets closest to the marker
always funny when you have to hop to get the shoe too.

or "pass the clap" - good to do indoors.
everyone stands up in a circle
first person hunches down with hands low on their left side, brings them over to their right side fast with a clap, next person has to do the same - time it to see how quickly you can get round the whole circle. then do it again, trying to beat the first go etc..

there are lots more, will keep trying to remember!

amidaiwish · 17/07/2007 12:43

how many people?

Flum · 31/07/2007 17:02

I'm loving all these, but haven't focussed in on a definate one yet. Any more ideas? About 25 people actually!

I was at one of these team building things, we played this

Skribble · 31/07/2007 22:08

Had a bad experience at one of those bloody team building things.

So please don't..*Get them to draw pictures according to instructions them procede to use them to explain their inner being.
*Don't hand out crystals to take home while explaining there meanings.
*get everyone to stand in a cirlce then ask them to turn to the left and give that person a back rub (OK we were all female but I could have died).

Don't don't don't

newlifenewname · 31/07/2007 22:09

Skribble · 31/07/2007 22:10

Bum Writing

Divide people into teams of about 4 or 5

Ask each team to think of a word of the same number of letters as the number in their team - e.g. if there are four of them they have to think of a four letter word. They have to keep this quiet from the other teams, as they are all going to have to guess what the words are.

In each team, give each team member one letter of the word.

Each team, in turn, has to go to the front of the room. They turn round so that their backs are to the rest of the room, and then they have to spell out the word by writing it with their bums. E.g. if there are 4 people in a team and the word is 'taxi' the first person has to draw a 't' with the bum, the second an 'a' and so on.

The rest of the room have to guess what the word is.

This works really well if you don't tell them to start with that they are going to have to 'draw' the word. The last time I did this, one team chose the word 'penis' - which caused great hilarity and was a really excellent ice-breaker!

Skribble · 31/07/2007 22:22

I think I would leave the room if I had to do that

soapbox · 31/07/2007 22:23

Flum- one that I often use is split into teams of roughly 6 people and see who can make the tallest freestanding structure out of old copies of the FT.

It always works a treat at getting the uber competitive to make complete dicks of themselves

BecauseImWorthIt · 31/07/2007 22:23

Because you do it in teams it's much easier (believe me, I hate any kind of humiliating party games).
