I hate goodbyes and DS2's best pal and his lovely family are going back to Italy. I was crying by the 'farewell' balloons this afternoon.

I love where I live. It is a beautiful part of London/Surrey borders. The thing is, overseas companies/organisations place families on (usually) five year contracts here as it is so lovely and family-friendly.

As a result, the Bubble Boys' class lists change dramatically with each new school year, with children leaving and arriving. We've got used to it over the years, but this particular family's leaving, after 6 years, is really difficult.

I've been through so much with the mother, my friend. We used the same nursery (before we opened ours) and the boys have known each other since they were one (now 7.) She had a a stillbirth at 23 weeks and went through the death of my twin with me and she eventually had a daughter here, four months ago, and .....I'm really going to miss her.

They're going back to Italy for two months and then moving to Barcelona (he works for the Italian embassy, sp?)

I know we can visit, but it won't be the same.

Aw Bubble, I understand. You have a strong bond and I am sure you will keep in touch. Have a little cry though.

Bubble99 · 15/07/2007 22:25

I'm OK, thanks.

I'm surprised at how hard this has hit me, TBH.

It gets so difficult (I find) to make friends as I get older. So it's crap to lose any, geographically.

I know I can stay in touch, but it won't be the same.

No, it won't. I am sorry

I have not taken well to major changes like this since I lost my baby either, am sure it has something to do with feeling comforted, secure and happy again.

Is your baby nearly 1 btw?!

threelittlegryffindors · 15/07/2007 23:44

and it's threelittlebabies here, with a harry potter name, in case you didn't guess!

Thankyou, TLG.

Yes, I think you're right. It has a lot to do with losing a friend who has been with me through thick and thin over the last few years. I've been feeling really sad about it today.

And, yes.

DS4 is nearly 9 months old.
