Hi I'm completely new so I apologise for any mistakes. I wonder if anyone has any experience of a insurance fire claim. We have had a bad house fire and insurance want us to list and price our contents. We have done most of our stuff but stuck at our extensive music collection which ranges from the 70s to present day. We thought Bout 10 pounds per album which we thought was reasonable but trou le is we had 400 vinyl albums which would come to 4000 pounds which sound a fortune. Any help would be most welcome especially from a loss adjuster. We only want to be fair to insurance and ourselves. Thanks

Dianne, do you have any photos that show your vinyl collection as that would help? I think it would be difficult to value each album at a flat rate of £10 because certain albums will be worth way more than others and your property insurers will be well aware of that.

Notwithstanding the above there is no harm in submitting a claim for £4K, but be content for it to be negotiated downwards.

Thanks Bevelino for your reply. We do not have pics of albums but the insurance own guys were in and it was them who listed 400 so they know about them.

Dianne, I think you should be fine with your claim and your insurer won’t be expecting exact prices and will settle if it appears reasonable.
