Hello all you scattered lovely people. I got a bit bored of the lateness thread going around in circles so I thought I'd start a new chat. And yes I know about the one in SN MNers but that topic doesn't show up in Active meaning I consistently lose the threads there because I periodically forget the topic exists.

Anyone welcome from diagnosed to suspected.

First question everyone always asks: I think I have ADHD, how do I get a diagnosis? > This outlines the process: aadduk.org/faq/

How are you all?

I’m shell shocked. Never crossed my mind I might have ADHD but the more I read the more it explains things. I’ve done a test for my DS (7) and he scored highly for both subtypes. Still processing it really.

Formal adult diagnosis- worth it or not?

BertieBotts · 15/04/2019 15:10

For me it was because it validated all the struggle and gave me a sense of understanding myself. I also feel more at home in support groups etc with a formal diagnosis. I don't think everyone needs this but I personally felt like a fraud without it.

But also if you're interested in trying medication it's worth pursuing for that reason. It took me 3 years but I'm just taking that step now, and it does seem to be helping? Perhaps not quite as much as I'd hoped, but it's early days yet.

Hi! Checking in....

I am on the other thread in MH too. No diagnosis but I certainly fit the profile.

Oh is there one in mental health? That might have been a better place.
