What Are Website Hits?

My 8-year old daughter has just made a website and it sais she has 110 hits on her site. i am not much of a internet smartie so could you please answer this question thank you!

Means that number of people have looked at it.

Actually, it's the number of times the page has been looked at. So if you look at it, and press Refresh 4 times, that would register as 5 hits.

Are you sure Dumbledior?
Because this is what it sais:
Hits 111
Visits 4
Day Hits 22
Day Visits 3
Friends 0

And are you sure hits means visits? because visits is already on there.

Actually, I am not quite correct.

If you bring up a page with 4 pictures on it, and a music file, that will be 6 hits to the server. 1 for the page, and one each for the files.
