Yes, it is. And it's unfortunately more common in the school holidays. Many schools have a system (informal) in place so that if an asylum seeking child doesn't turn up one day, they immediately alert GCTWR or another support organisation, and the ball starts rolling to delay / prevent the family being taken away. In the hols, families can be back in their original country before anyone notices they've gone. Another thing to be aware of is if the mum has been told to take the child/ren with her when she signs on a Brand Street. That often happens too - the whole family are asked to attend and then they're taken away from there. It is very sad.
