I really want to loose weight - I feel sooooo fat - but just can't get any willpower to get on with it - which in turn makes me feel such a failure! I just talk myself into failing all the time!

Anyone else out there suffering like this? Someone give me a tough talking too ...please!!!!

I felt exactly like this two weeks ago. Had done for ages. Finally got myself in hand and dug really really deep to find some willpower. Am doing slimming world and am in second week. It's hard. Very hard. Have a look at the slimming world threads and maybe you'll join us.

At the end of the day no one can do this but you. But we can help and support and encourage you along the way.

Thank you, Kayleigh - I have got to really go for it - but I have lots of resolve when I have just eaten but as soon as i'm hungry I think - blow it , I'll start tomorrow.

kayligh any results yet?

How much do you need to lose Shortcake? Take it slowly and start by just cutting out all the crap - biscuits, crisps, chocolate, takeaways and you'll see results pretty soon

I weigh about 15stone and am 5'7" - so about 4 stone - the thought just terrifies me ! The things which seem to go against me are time and financial constraints - I just never seem to find time to get our shopping organised etc - and also myy daughter is diabetic and i spend loads of time making sure she eats really well - then I just grab any old rubbish! But i am worried about the health risks and know i have to get on with it! Thanks for your support

Shortcake, I had about 4 stone to loose and I am currently 2 stone into my weightloss so halfway there. I found the first month hard but now its just natural.

I have to dash off right now but I wanted to say that I understand how you feel totally, and you can change the cycle and loose the weight :)

Chinchilla · 09/09/2004 20:14

Me too! I need to lose around 3.5 stones, and could kick myself, as I lost nearly 2.5 this time last year, and put it all back on. I started WW today, and have done well today. Perhaps we could egg each other on?

There's been a few threads on the weight losss thing about pedometers - they're a really good motivatino for a bit of extra exercise - only walking so nothing drastic

Shortcake, I find a problem to get organised with the shoping so as a result any program I follow fails because I end up missing the most important ingredient... But what I have tried to do is to avoid mixing proteins and carbohidrates (you can eat everything but keep these 2 groups separate), drink at least 2 litres of water a day and snack with fruits, and vegetables instead of crisps, cookies, etc. Try not to do the shoping when you are hungry and don't bring home anything you are not supposed to eat (I love doritos with salsa, and I never buy them because I can eat full big bag in 15 min). Take it easy, don't be hard on yourself, if you eat something you shouldn't is OK as long as you don't use that as excuse to continue eating. :)

PS> And join one of the many dieting groups of mumsnet, it helps!

Your all sooooo encouraging - sometimes I feel I'm the only one on this planet who is struggling - but I am firming up all my resolve and I'm gonna do well tomorrow - and I am going to bed now so that I am not tempted to eat everything in the cupboard - just to clear it out!

Shortcake - I feel the same. This time last year I lost 2 stone and now its virtually all gone back on. I followed WW. The last couple of weeks I really am starting to feel like a blimp. I seriously feel waterlogged - you know at the end of a pregnancy when your legs feel "stiff" with water - well I feel like that..I really need to tell someone each day what I've eaten but don't really fancy putting it on here for all to see.

Have any of you that are struggling thought of lighterlife. I started a thread here a while ago. I have lost 38lbs in 11 weeks on LL. It is quite tough but surprisingly easy to stick with given the weight loss each week. I think it is a way of getting the weight off quickly but with enough counselling to make sure it doesn;t go straight back on.

It is expensive - £45 per week, but since that includes all your meal replacements I have saved at least that amount off of our shopping and wine bill each week

There is a good discussion site here if you want to learn a bit more about it...

It has given me back control over my weight and the belief that I can and will be slim again - and that is worth a lot!!

Hi Shortcake, you're definitely not alone. I have 7 stone to lose, I think it's going to take me quite a while. I've been doing WW for 5 weeks and I find it slow but good because I'm not hungry. I found the first 3 weeks nearly impossible because I gave up chocolate completely, I didn't think that would be able to eat just a little bit, but the long term slimmers thread has been a wonderful help and the ww meetings help too. I write everything down, even if I have something that I know I shouldn't have. And I try not to let myself get hungry as that is when I'm at my weakest, so I have lots of veg and fibre in my meals and I eat before I feel hungry. I think you have an advantage with your daughter being diabetic, after all a healthy diet for a diabetic is a healthy diet for everyone, so why not make more of her food and have it yourself too?

Good luck, and keep posting on the boards, it's a really good motivator.
