Last month, with the money Mum gave me for my birthday, I bought an IpodNano. PC says there's not enough power in my USB ports to support it. So H took me down to PC world and I bought something that looks really frightening to upgrade USB ports to 2.0.

With me so far? Cos I'm not sure I am! Question is, should I go for it and take PC apart, or take PC back to PC World and get them to do it for thirty quid? I've looked at the instructions and it says to unscrew your driver. Efff. What would you lot do?

Personally I would get someone else to do it - if you are in any way unconfident of your abilities you will be worried every time something goes wrong with it that it's because of what you did.

I'm a software person and anything that goes wrong software wise I can figure out but I'm phobic about sticking my hand up a hard drive - possibly due to to the massive shock I got last time I did though

There was a huge Government Health Warning about shock - part of me wants to at least try, and I suppose if I cock it up I can take the whole thing back to PC world and get them to sort it out. Whad'ya think - I'd bl**dy well miss MN, that's for sure!

Hmm bad idea, you'll fry your circuits. Here's a compromise. Find a local computer guy -they tend to advertise in the local newspapers. Get him to show you how it's done with him there. Then you have the peace of mind and the satisfaction.

WMMC - I think I'll stick to repotting the standard rosemary bush my best friend bought me instead .....
