Jasmine - Anyone use this new pill

I have just been to the doctor re having an IUS or IUD fitted, and have been asked to consider the new pill from the USA, called Jasmine.

Does anyone use this, or have any knowledge of it? Apparently it can be used to cut down on pre-menstrual bloating? I won't consider anything which may involve a weight gain, so is this one to consider?

Any opinions welcomed.

Does it alleviate PMT in anyway? I've never heard of it before but the bloating thing sounds a bonus.

I discussed this with a GP friend of mine and he said that he always advocates older pills where possible as it seems that when new ones come out, much-heralded, there are problems a few years later, eg the Femodene scares of about five years ago. He feels that the longer the pill has been around the greater the likelihood of its safety.

Don;t know if that helps or not, but I thought that I would mention it

AliH - I like the sound of this! Am sitting here feeling very pre-menstrual, bloated and popping out of my trousers!! Will do a search on the web to see what I can find out and might even approach my GP about it. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the messages - Zoe, my doc said that although it is newly licensed here, it has been used in the US for years.

I still know very little, but will keep posting if I find out more.

PamT, not sure on PMT.

Oh, and actually it might be spelled Yasmine (you know, doctor's handwriting is a law unto itself)
