I've run out of dishwasher tablets can't bear to go to Sainsburys just for this, big shop tomorrow. Can i use anything in the meantime? Fairy liquid?

use a half measure of your (clothes) washing machine detergent. I won't be a problem at all.

Don't use fairy liquid, it will foam far too much

I wish I'd known that, Easy ? it happened to me and I put a couple of squirts of Fairy in and came down to find foam flooding out all over the floor . It took ages to clean it all up!

Has anyone tried soda crystals, I use them in my washing machine every now & then to clean out the machine, don't know what your crockery would come out like!!!

Easy · 08/09/2004 14:53

I'd have thought soda crystals would scratch you crocery and glasses pretty badly. Yu might get away with it once, but not on a regular basis

I usually put ds's bottles in will they still be alright with washing detergent?

I would think so. after all, the dishwasher gives a pretty comprehensive rinse afterwards.

I'd avoid putting in the teats tho' and soft plastic (like tupperware lids), they might just take the scent from the detergent.

Just run the machine on the very hot/dry cycle without any detergent at all. I bet everything will be clean, unless you have some really greasy dirty pots.
