We are moving back to UK after being abroad for many years and have a 9 month old daughter. I will be going back to work full time ( teaching ) while dh looks after baby and looks for a job at the same time! Having never had a baby in UK can anyone give me some advice on where to go to find play groups, and other baby activities? Here ( Germany ) we've done baby swimming and massage and I've got a great fitness class especially for mums who want to strengthen their pelvic floor. Where in UK do I find out about such things? I'm also hoping it will be good way to meet people, especially for dh who doesn't know anyone there!!!
Any advice would be great. We'll be in the Norhtwest.

When you register with a doctor you will probably be assigned a Health Visitor to look after your DDs progress. She should be able to give you information about local mums and toddler groups and possibly also have information about post natal exercise groups. The local sports centre should also have a list of groups and activities for mums and or babies and the library is a great source of information, ours has an information directory and very helpful, knowledgeable staff. If you go to church you might find that there are church groups which would be suitable - many of our local churches run mums and tots groups. Some local authorities also have directories of activity groups so it might be worth giving them a ring. Good luck with the move. HTH

The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) is a brilliant way of meeting people too. NCT shoud take you to their site. HTH

Hales where about in the northwest are you moving to? There are lots of mums on here from the northwest so they should be able to help more.
