Why would my ex boss do this?

I left a job I hated a few months ago and got a new job. Since then I've never looked back.

My old boss was looking for someone to replace me. She had been apparently happy with my work but I felt she was a bully and I became tired of her aggressive messages to myself and my other work colleagues.

The other day I received an email from her saying thanks for my interest in the position but I'm not the right fit for the company 🤣 as if I'd reapply for a job I just left???

What do you think was the reason for this?

Ha! Probably trying to prove that they’re doing okay without you or something... who knows!

Either it was a simple error or an attempt to wind you up!

Is there a HR Department? I'd be tempted to email the HR department and write about about data protection as you haven't applied for a position with the company and your email address should not have been stored for this purpose?

Very very strange that she would try to pretend I reapplied for a job I just left!

There's no HR. It's a small company. I had to block her text messages as she was trying to accuse me of stealing clients from her (which I didn't and had no reason to as I'm now working for a bigger company which is entirely different)

Maybe a simple "I'm sorry, but this must have gone to the wrong person, I have not applied for a role within your company." And if you don't need her as a reference "please remove my email address from your records" ?

OR.... Just ignore. It is fairly obvious that it is to wind you up, so maybe don't give her the headspace?

I actually used another previous boss as a reference as my instincts told me this one would try to ruin my chances.
