probably a stupid question but I am de-cluttering at the moment and we have about 4 pairs of clarks shoes, boots etc that DD has grown out of. I won't put them on ebay as they have been worn (scuffs etc) but they still have plenty of wear in them. I can't have them hanging round the house anymore as DD wants to put them on all the time and don't know anyone with DD younger than mine.

Do charity shops take things like this even if not in perfect condition?

Charity shop or recycling bin?

curlywurlycremeegg · 02/07/2007 21:59

I stick them in my local oxfam charity bin

fingerwoman · 02/07/2007 21:59

clarks are still doing that blue peter shoe collection thingy. well, ours is anyway. they have a big bin you can put old shoes in

CakeandFineWine · 02/07/2007 22:00

freecycle?!

charlieandlola · 02/07/2007 22:01

Salvation Army drop box in Tesco's car park, next to the recycling.

frascati · 02/07/2007 22:01

Our school takes them in pairs and then the school gets money for them

lulumamasmentee · 02/07/2007 22:04

had forgotten about the recycling bins, I will take them tomorrow

our local somerfield has third world bank. my daughter was finally ok about giving her shoes away when i said we were giving them to someone who didn't have any shoes. then a few days later she said - i have lots of toys, shall we give some to someone who doesn't have any? Ah, i though, what a lovely girl i have. ok, i said, great idea. Good, she said, then you can buy me some new ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JoMa · 02/07/2007 22:07

when ds1 gets his new shoes at Clarks, the old ones go straight into the blue peter bin before we leave the shop!

paulaplumpbottom · 02/07/2007 22:08

I imagine that children's shoes would be very welcome even if they are a bit scuffed

Pinkchampagne · 02/07/2007 22:12

DS's last school shoes barely got any wear before they were outgrown, so I gave them to my friend for her little boy, who happens to be half a shoe size smaller than my DS!

Shoes that have had a fair amount of wear normally go to charity, or if they have had loads of wear, they go in my dustbin!

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 02/07/2007 22:15

i just gave some shoes to dd's nursery, in case other children get wet feet after wet play, or have a wee accident.

lulumamasmentee · 02/07/2007 22:16

not loads of wear at all the soles are perfect, just scuffed at the front and I can't be bothered to stick them on ebay for a couple of quid

I freecycle mine now if I don't know anyone to pass them to. Someone is always glad of them.

lulumamasmentee · 02/07/2007 22:22

is it because they are so expensive that I can't stand to throw them out, I want to see them worn down till theres holes!

There was someone on here once who worked with a child who had to wear his wellies to school because his parents couldn't afford shoes. Surely they would do some good there. If you could track down who that was

Bouquetsofdynomite · 08/07/2007 20:47

Mine go in with old un-Ebayable clothes and the odd bag of rice to the local Basics Bank for poverty-stricken families. Have a google.
