Hey,
I'm new to Mumsnet and looking for some help and or advice.
To cut a long story short I had a very abusive partner who assaulted me really badly Infront of our son on more than one occasion. (I blame myself for not getting away sooner but at the time I didn't have a clue how to get away from him. He had put me in a very bad place mentally and I was scared of him and what he might do)
The last and worst of the assaults resulted in me being taken to hospital for head xrays etc and him being imprisoned. Sentenced for 6 months and served 3.
It's now almost two and a half years on and my ex has had no contact with my son. He's trying to take me to court but it's come out that he's recently commited another two assaults the details of which I don't know. Due to this no sheriff will grant him access till it's resolved.
He was up in court a few days ago and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way I could find out the outcome of the case. We live in Scotland and I'm assuming that it would have been in our local sheriff court he would have attended. Can I call and ask what the outcome was?
I still have contact with his parents but I don't talk to them at all about him or ask questions as I don't want the relationship with them to be strained, they have regular access to my son and I don't want any unnecessary awkwardness.
My son doesn't want to see his father he has expressed this on numerous occasions as he remembers vividly what happened during the last assault. We are contemplating going to a child psychologist for help on that part.
I just worry so much that he will eventually be granted access to my son and I worry about my childs safety around him as he's very unpredictable and easily enraged.
Any help would be much appreciated thanks.
