Moving to Durham

Hello everybody.

I am thinking of moving Durham as life is becoming too expensive. My father lives in london as well and getting on now. His landlord has served him a section 21 notice. We have been looking at rental properties and housing benefit does not cover the cost of renting due to very high rental prices, so I am thinking of selling up and using the capital to relocate to Durham and buying my father a house so he has a secured roof over his head

Could people please give me there views to Durham and good and nice places to live? Also the places to stay away from?

Ideally I would like a nice area, nice views if possible but not too fussed as long it's not too crazy. I have 4 children, 14,13,5 and 4 years old so need to be near good schools and some shopping areas as long as it's not crazy like london is.

Many thanks

Go further out than claygate, gilesgate or Neville's cross unless you want to be surrounded by constantly revolving student housemates.

Oh, also the area under the viaduct is student housing.
