We've done playdoh, messy play, treasure hunts, videos, dressing up, etc etc etc til the cows come home. Kids have cabin fever and so have I.

I just want to go outside!!!!!!

that's true. That's probably what I was thinking about. I know from when I used to live round there that there was always a really high tide in June - but it may have been more towards the beginning of June,

bobsyouruncle · 25/06/2007 15:11

Pesto - I've just been into town & bought a cag-in-a-bag, I'm quite chuffed with it, even if dh is phsl... It's got a daisy pattern on it & I think it's quite stylish...for a cag

Our back garden is under 4 inches of water.

Wondering whether can get back to work tommorow.

Praying water soes not get any higher.

Some poor sod has been drowned trying to clear a storm drain in our local area

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 15:14

Have looked it up cos I ought to know it anyway from my sailing days .
Spring tide comes a few days after the full moon, but the full moons this month are 1st and 30th so it shouldn't be a spring tide at the moment.

fryalot · 25/06/2007 15:14

oh WT - I saw that on the news, but they were still trying to get to him. How sad

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 15:14

but there is more than enough water around to cause trouble no matter what the tides are like

fryalot · 25/06/2007 15:14

thank you kathy I should really check these things before wading in and posting them without even thinking

flibbertyjibbet · 25/06/2007 15:15

The wind as well, its horrible, even our magnetic cat flap is making a banging noise in the kitchen and it usually stays tight shut.

Its driving me nuts. My dd needs to run and play and she has been stuck inside for over a week poor thing

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 15:15

our swing is flying back and forth as if there is an invisible baby in it.

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 15:17

Let them outside to play.

They'll get wet.

BFD.

We just spent the week getting drenched in Nairn.

But for once, we had a GARDEN, so we turned them lose in it.

Made mud cakes, splashed in puddles, danced around.

It's water, people.

paulaplumpbottom · 25/06/2007 15:20

We did go puddle jumping but she is a bit bored with that now

we also went puddle jumping. dd2 fell in a puddle and was soaked from head to toe. It was fun.

Up here, though, it is seriously raining, as WT posted earlier, a man has died while trying to clear out a storm drain. The roads are under a foot of water.

We are not having a whinge about a bit of rain.

bobsyouruncle · 25/06/2007 15:22

Expat - We're off to Nairn at the end of the week, first trip there, how was it? (apart from the weather!)

fryalot · 25/06/2007 15:23

story here

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 15:24

it was good, bob!

i like to collect sea glass, so we had big fun sea glass hunting both in Nairn and in the Black Isle.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 15:25

Nah, tried letting my 6 month old out to play but he just crawls into a puddle and gets upset

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 15:26

FGS, people, this isn't a desert.

Get over it!

It will pass and then you'll all be bitching about how hot and dry it is.

You could put some people in Shangri-la and they'd find fault with it.

[rolls eyes]

bobsyouruncle · 25/06/2007 15:29

It's our first holiday for 5 years and dc's first holiday ever so we ARE going to enjoy ourselves regardless of the weather - mud cakes and puddles here we come !

snowleopard · 25/06/2007 15:31

But will it pass, expat? I kind of get the feeling it is just getting rainier, and rainier, until it will just be constantly semi-dark and the whole world will be under 4 feet of water... then before you know it it will be blimming christmas and we'll have that to deal with as well...

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 15:31

Exactly, bobs! That's the spirit.

We just went with it.

There's a lot to do and see around there, and it was lovely to see teh mountains breaking through the clouds when they did.

Where I'm from, flash floods and devestating storms like hurricanes and tropical storms happen. They are part of life, and although not a pleasant part, they're like anything else - they pass.

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 15:32

I don't know, snow. No one can know that, and it's very likely there's not much that can be done about it to reverse the trend substantially if that's how it'll go.

But bitching constantly certainly won't shift it.

When life hands you lemons, grab a bottle of tequila.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 15:32

Oh c'mon Expat, I think we're entitled to bitch when we get cut off and there's water pouring into our houses (leaking roof in my case, not flood), aren't we?
And excrement floating around in your children's classrooms is probably not that nice either.
