We've done playdoh, messy play, treasure hunts, videos, dressing up, etc etc etc til the cows come home. Kids have cabin fever and so have I.

I just want to go outside!!!!!!

It's only been officially summer for a few days, though!

There's time yet!

When it's 30 degrees for days on end in August, I'd better not here a peep of complaint out of any of youse!

ComeOVeneer · 25/06/2007 12:54

I love the hot weather. I grew up in the far east and the middle east.

speedymama · 25/06/2007 12:55

I remember last year when everyone was complaining about the hot weather.

expatinscotland · 25/06/2007 12:55

Same here, speedy.

I grew up roasting to death in humid, semi-tropical and tropical climates.

I hated every minute of it.

NAB3 · 25/06/2007 12:56

Get wrapped up in coats and wellies and go puddle splashing! The enjoyment and fun is worth the extra washing!!!!!

Oblomov · 25/06/2007 12:58

This rain is miserable. Ds keeps asking when we can go to the fpark. And beleive me, he NEEDS to go - I might take him out and run some errands in the next hour.

ComeOVeneer · 25/06/2007 13:01

Doesn't help that ds has a streaming cold which I am clearly coming down with, so on't feel like doing anything anyway.

snowleopard · 25/06/2007 13:03

We go puddle splashing every day NAB3! It is fun but let's just say I'm ready for some other seasonal pursuits.

robinpud · 25/06/2007 13:04

I'm in Sydney and they are having the second wettest June on record. I know they need the rain but I want it to stop now! The only thing that is consoling me though is that it's worse at home.

nannyogg · 25/06/2007 14:42

Oh no, I will be complaining when it's roasting too, it's what we British do.

Hulababy · 25/06/2007 14:44

I was very peeved with it this morning when it took me 30 minutes to drive about a quarter of a mile. Grrr!

It's June. It should be warm and sunny!

Already had one cancelled sports day. Not looking great for the reserve day on Thursday either.

allgonebellyup · 25/06/2007 14:44

i am off to ibiza on saturday so i dont care!!

NuttyMuffins · 25/06/2007 14:47

Oh look, time to go on th school run, and we have lovely big black clouds overhead.

Argh, have already stripped off and and had to dry clothes once today.

My umbrella is broken now too

LucyJones · 25/06/2007 14:47

I'd rather have this year's June than last year's June any day

allgonebellyup · 25/06/2007 14:48

i want heat!!!

PestoMonster · 25/06/2007 14:50

Just got back from the hairdressers, where they asked me if I wanted them to finish my hair off with straighteners. I took one look at the torrents outside and decided not to bother.

The up-side of my morning, was that I had remembered to take my Cag-in-a-bag with me. So at least I wasn't drenched when I got home.

Gotta brave it again in a minute too for the school run. Grrr!

fryalot · 25/06/2007 14:51

dd1's school closed due to flooding, dp's school closed due to flooding (drains backed up, human waste floating in the classrooms - niiice!)

roads all flooded.

Police telling drivers that they cannot close all the roads, but they are all impassable and are advising everyone to turn around and go home.

dp drove his fiesta through flood after flood after flood. Engine backfiring, but dp says fiesta is fab car for getting him home.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 14:53

Hey Squonk.

I was going to go into Pocklington for ds's 7 months check but the health visitor came to me instead as she said the road would be impassable later.

Dh ought to be able to get home from work eventually but the Ouse is bound to be flooded somewhere so doubtless the traffic'll be all haywire.

MadMumsy · 25/06/2007 14:53

I'm off to Dubai on Wednesday but there is the threat of rain there also - bugger

fryalot · 25/06/2007 14:55

I'd be very surprised if the car park, and in front of the kings head and the lowther's arms are still dry. I suspect, as well, that Cawood and Naburn will be flooded further up, the river is still tidal there and they will have spring tides as well as all this rain!

fingers crossed for your dh getting home.

It seems to be easing up a bit now, though....

lou33 · 25/06/2007 14:56

i cancelled the riding

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 14:57

oh didn't realise it was spring tide as well

fryalot · 25/06/2007 15:00

I should point out that I don't know exactly when spring tide is, so I may be giving you duff info, but I think it's round about now.

Although, thinking about it, it's nearly July, so I'm probably being a completely dumb pratt. That's clearly summer, not spring

Kathyis6incheshigh · 25/06/2007 15:02

spring tides don't have to be in spring though do they? it just means the tides with the highest differences.

saffymum · 25/06/2007 15:03

put on their wellies and go jumping in puddles.... great fun.
