Hmmm dilema with Dd2

Dd2 (7) has this term been taking part in a once a week, lunchtime multi skills sports programme workshop thingy. From what I can tell she has enjoyed it.

Anyhow, the workshop finnishes soon, and this week she brought home a letter about a summer workshop version of this at another local school. It is Mon-Fri, 10-3 and instead of it being £55 it is £25.

She wants to go, but the money needs to be paid asap for her to get a place, and I just don't have it right now.

I was thinking of offering her an alternative instead. She is saving up for a fish tank for her room and so far she has about £14. I was thinking of giving her £10 to help her along, instead of the £25 for the workshop.
I know it isn't nearly the same type of thing, but if i do that then I can give her the £10 in the 6 weeks and not now.

Am i being mean ???

Anyone ??

Might add that I asked xp to pay the £25 or at least make a contribution and he said he couldn't afford it.

Who runs it? Could you see if they do a concession price for benefits? then the £14 might cover it.

NuttyMuffins · 23/06/2007 11:00

I don't want her to have to pay for the course herself though. She is saving for the fish tank.

The price has already been subsidised so I very much doubt there will be anymore discounts available.

Suppose i coulxd just ask her and seee what she says.

could you try asking on freecycle for a fishtank? It's the sort of thing people are always trying to shift!

NuttyMuffins · 23/06/2007 11:04

Yeah but she is saving for particular one LOL, tis a mermaid one £30.

Could you send a letter into the workshop at school, explaining that your DD would love to take part in the summer workshop, but that you can't afford to pay for it yet.
That way you may be able to save a bit a week until the holidays start - and they may even offer you a discount.

McQueenGirl · 23/06/2007 11:11

why not you give her the ten pounds and she can decide if she wants to do the course or buy the fish tank?

colditz · 23/06/2007 11:13

nutty hasn't GOT the £10, that's the probelm.

NuttyMuffins · 23/06/2007 11:53

Her school has no part in the workshop so they won't be able to help.

It is an outside organisation and is being held at a different school. Dd2 only got into it as they held a weekly free workshop at her school last term.

she said

"I was thinking of giving her £10 to help her along, instead of the £25 for the workshop. "

I meant her dd could use her own £14 plus £10 off mum then she can decide to do work shop or fish tank

tiredemma · 23/06/2007 12:12

have sent you an email to your hotmail acct.

NuttyMuffins · 23/06/2007 13:44

It's ok, problem solved. My mum is going to write a cheque and then I will pay her back in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the help.
