Harpic on green carpet nightmare!

Dear lord, help me!!

I've just dropped a bottle of Harpic at the bottom of my stairs. Picked it up and went upstairs only to feel something running down my leg.

The bottle has split and leaked green harpic all over the cream carpet 😭

I'm renting so I need to get this lifted. I've scrubbed it with water and washing up liquid but it doesn't look like it's helped.

Any ideas?!

Title should obviously say cream.

Have you got any spare scraps of carpet ? My carpet fitter said always wipe with the same carpet rather than a cloth xx

Scrubbing will just spread it. Putting water on it will just dilute and spread it

You need to mop up as much as possible. Get a blunt knife like a fish knife and scrape up as much as possible. Then blot repetwslg with kitchen roll. Tomorrow hire a rug doctor or similar and use that - when the water goes on, you need something to extract it such as the rug doctor machine or borrow a carpet cleaner from a friend - I have a vax and it is brill.

If there is a residual stain, try a very light bleach solution but ONLY if it is a poly prop carpet. Not wool.

If it's wool, that's going to be difficult.
If it's Polypropylene, use 1:4 bleach to water and scrub.

If you don't know what kind of carpet it is, you can test the bleach on a tiny area, but if it's wool it will make it worse.

Other that, I'd suggest popping into somewhere that sells carpets and seeing if you can get one if those cleaning kits, we got one from SCS when we had are carpets done and it seems to get most things out.

No need to panic, I lost my balance and squirted the light carpet.
I soaked up with kitchen paper towel, sprayed Vanish Gold carpet care on it generously which didn't seem to do much so I left it overnight and in the morning the stain had gone.
