Is it just my warped memory, or didn't the wolf used to eat Grandma? I thought the wolf ate her then dressed up as her, then LRRH's dad was a woodcutter so cut the wolf open and got Grandma out? These days all the books say Grandma hides.

Also I notice that the wolf now runs away after falling in the 3 little pigs' pot of water . Did I just have a really nasty fairy tale book?

I see what you mean, but children still need ways of reflecting about their own fears, and a good old fairy tale (appropriate for age/maturity of the child) can still be helpful

Don't get me wrong I hate a lot of childrens literature these days that has been so watered down that there is only a boring excuse for a story left. SOme of them even forget to have a story. Publishers churning out cheap and fast rubbish.

I change the endings myself. You wouldn't believe some of the things that happen to them Though this is helped by having a child that can't read.

lol. I think I was around six or seven when I started to read proper fairy tales. I was also addicted to her fairytales
I wouldn't read suzywong's tale to a 5 year old!
