New York Marathon

I usually post under another name but for reasons of family privacy I'm under another guise for this one.

And a very special guise too as Auntie to Hannah. She has Cystic Fibrosis and as I can't do much for her, living at some distance, I am signed up for the New York Marathon in November. Not ever having run, the trainig is going well so far - up to 13 miles now! Only another 13 to go...

I am fundraising for the CF Trust and their website has lots of info on their work and on the condition. The bit that gets me every time is that fact that her life expectancy is 30 - the same age as me... Her early diagnosis (she's 8mo) was thanks to the campaigning work of the Trust in Scotland and since last year all babies are screened for CF in their heelprick (Guthrie) test.

Note to self - don't start fundraising and then go on hols for 2 weeks! To get the ball rolling again, thanks to people who have donated already - I am really touched.

There are 8 weeks to go until the big day and training is getting a little harder now that it's cold and dark of an evening rather than long summer nights. Any other runners out there - all tips appreciated!
