Hi everyone, when central heating should turn on? I was thinking from today 1 October but still we don't have heating in the flat, it's really cold inside

If I am cold then I turn it on. I try first to see if I can cope with just a jumper but because I work from home, I sit still a lot...that means I get very cold, very quickly.

What's your thermostat set at?
Our central heating kicks in when the temp drops to a certain degree. We can also override the system if required to turn on or off.
It certainly doesn't switch itself on because of the date.

When it is cold enough. In our house we go by the temperature not the calendar.

Do you not have control over your heating? If not who does?

Jozen · 01/10/2018 08:42

Sorry just read you don't have heating in the flat.

Ours is set to switch on when the indoor temperature drops below a certain point. We do try to get by with jumpers on as much as possible, but sometimes, it needs a boost.

Oh god I'm confused, ignore me. You do have heating but it's not turned on.
I'll have a cup of tea and all will be clear.

The thing is I don't have at all in my flat I can't control myself, whole flats in the building are controlled by one central boiler and It's not still turn on, ao even if i want I can't turn on the heating

Contact your landlord then. Or the boiler controller.

That's weird. Are you in the UK?
Can you buy a convector heater to use until the heating goes on?

Ris26 · 01/10/2018 09:28

Yes I'm in UK NW11. I called now the number that they put in the building for Emergency contact but the guy who answered told me that they are not working anymore for the agency that rent the flat, I called the agency and they told me they can't help as i need to ask the company who maintains the building and flats as they know these things. Probably they changed the Emergency contract but that is on the main entrance and my entrance is from behind the building and I didn't see. I have a small heater as i have 4 month baby and i need at least to heat one room for him. Otherwise the temperature is around 17 in the living room and kitchen. We are in basement so it's really cold without heating. I will wait for my son to wake up and i will go to check Emergency number probably they put another one.
