I paid 200quid for a drain company to flush and rod my drains as there was a blockage. he never managed to remove the blockage so 200quid and 2 weeks later we are still only able to use the toilet in the basement. I have rang numerous plumbers and they have all said I should not have paid him the money and to report him and get my money back. I have got drain doctor coming on wednesday but dont know if he will get any further.

So can I get my money back, in this very messy business?

I have no idea Fio, i hope someone can help though as you have been messed around enough lately by greedy people. I will keep bumping this for you incase someone has any experience

Oh, fio, you're not having a lot of luck atm, are you? (Well, apart from DH's job that is! )

I don't know about getting your money back though - if he did what you wanted him to do I would guess he would say he was entitled to the money even if it didn't clear the blockage. Have the plumbers said who you should report him to? Is he a member of a trade organisation? You could try Trading Standards (?) at the council I suppose...

no luck at all janh. dh says its because I didnt buy the lucky heather off the gypsey the other week

They never said who to report it to, just to phone them up and get it back. I dunno I hate men

They're such smart arses, aren't they?

Try Trading Standards then - they can probably tell you what your position is - have you had the blockage cleared now by somebody else?

Fio2 · 24/08/2004 10:46

no the blockage is still there Its my fault, so I keep being told by my very disgusted with me husband. i had already wee'd in the toilet and then realised the comb was down there and thought it would still be there when I flushed but the wee would be gone. But no. i have made a complete mess now and the walking down two flights of stairs to use the toilet is not fun!

Are you sure that's what's doing it? If it was small enough to be flushed through the S (?) bend I would have thought it was small enough to go down the soil pipe too...

(Did you that I am really a plumber with overalls and everything? )

Anyway if it helps I would have done the same as you!

JanH · 24/08/2004 11:05

there should be a "know" in there somewhere...

Fio2 · 24/08/2004 11:12

thanks jan my husband says if wee disgusts me that much I should have used a coathanger???!!!!

the comb is square so I suppose it could of got stuck. The plumber yesterday said he would put his arm up there for me

He doesn't need a coathanger then? What a nice man. Well I hope he can clear it for you after all that - one less thing to worry about.

JanH · 24/08/2004 11:18

thank you, fio!

(It is a v flattering pic actually and I had whipped my specs off, I don't look like that really!)

Fio2 · 24/08/2004 11:20
