Where i work our opening hrs are 8AM-10PM
why do ppl always ring at 9:59pm and spend at least 10-15mins on the phone. its not like we've got a home to go to or anything.
ranting i know but had someone on the phone yesterday evening about 9pm wanted to change her insurance policy, wasn't happy with the addition, wanted it taken via Direct Debits but as she paid in full at start of policy she would of had to pay in full, hung up angry. then called back at 9:59pm and didn't get off the phone till 10:20pm.

Sorry for the Rant just really Bugs me!

Sometimes you suddenly remember that you have to do something that day and only just get thru in time, plus sometimes you're on hold for AGES. But then you should try to get off quickly.
Nothing you can do tho I suppose.

I understand if you just remember but put it on the memo board for the morning and do it then not at 1 min to 10, we like to go home.

People are busier in the morning and don't have time to be on hold for 45 minutes. It's easier in the evening when you have more time.
Perhaps the company should hold calls from 9:45. It's not people's fault if it goes over, surely it's part of the job. Supermarkets shut at a certain time but people don't just leave without there shopping, they all have to be checked thru. It's probably well past the closing time that the staff have to leave.

Go to the loo at 9:50pm?

Darciesmum · 08/06/2007 09:50

The Phone lines cut off all incoming calls at 22:00, but generally we don't have a long holding time, we have a full staff so you get straight through.
The person we had on the phone last nite we had to tell them it was past closing time and couldn't do anything for her till today to resolve her problem and that offices shut at 10pm, again wasn't happy but not alot you can do at that time of night to resolve certain issues.

Brothel, would love to do that but as a senior on the floor i have to stick around to make sure everything is closed down and all my staff are off the phone and signed off.

Fair enough, can't you just let her know about closing and then say very sorry and hang up, or might you get fired??

Darciesmum · 08/06/2007 09:57

Because it was 9:59pm the offices hadn't offically shut so had to answer the phone and deal with the call, otherwise would of been picked up as calls are recorded.
